Apple's much-awaited new iPhone models are finally here after months of speculation. Called Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the new additions to the company's iPhone lineup were unveiled at an event held in Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple's new Spaceship campus in California.
Both new iPhones will come in two storage variants - 64GB and 256GB. Users in select countries, including India, can pre-order the two smartphones starting September 15. The smartphones will be available in India from September 29 at a starting price of Rs 64,000.
Apple iPhone 8 includes a 4.7-inch Retina HD screen, while the bigger variant comes with 5.5-inch Retina HD screen. The key highlight of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is their design. The smartphones run on the company's latest 10nm A11 Bionic chipset with a 6-core processor. It is claimed to be 70% faster than A10, which powers the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.
The duo also comes with an improved camera software that lets users click better portrait shots. The iPhone 8 comes with a single 12MP rear camera while the iPhone 8 Plus sports dual 12MP rear cameras. The new cameras are calibrated for augmented reality and come with accurate motion tracking tech.
As for the video recording, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus supports full-HD recording at 240 frames per second. The handsets can also shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second.
The iPhone 8 Plus comes with a new dual-camera feature called "Portrait Lighting". The feature senses depth in the image and adjusts the lighting on the face of the subject accordingly. The primary rear camera has f/1.8 aperture while the secondary telephoto camera comes with f/2.8 aperture.
The Apple iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus come in Silver, Space Grey and Gold variant and also support wireless charging technology.
